The Andean Region has resisted very well the global financial and economic crisis and has shown to be a region with large economic potencial stability. Its presence in the Pacific Basin places these countries in a strategic position to enlarge markets to Asia and the US.

Colombia has been recognized as the country with the best environment for business in Latin America (Doing Business 2010, report of the World Bank), followed by Chile, Mexico and Peru. It is also a country highly active in the negotiation of BIT’s (Bilateral Investment Treaties) and agreements to avoid double taxation. Colombia, followed by Peru and Chile, shows the highest levels of investment protection in the region.

The recent inclusion of Colombia in the group of CIVETS (Colombia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Egypt, Turkey and South Africa) by HSBC, positioned the country as one of the emerging economies with the highest growth potencial in the following years.
