Public works Belgium – recognition as a constructor

A-Law International Law Firm has represented a Spanish constructor to obtain the status of recognized constructor in Belgium, for execution of public infrastructure works.

Where there is different legislation in place according to the region of Belgium where the constructor is active, for public infrastructure works it remains mandatory to obtain a recognition.

This recognition aims to verify the financial strength, reputation and specialized knowledge of the constructor who has to specify in his request the class (depending of the value of the work) and category/subcategory of work for which recognition is asked.

While the request has to be send to the federal level, the region where the works are to be carried out will determine the language of the request and the regional government competent to take the decision.
