His legal practice experience includes providing hands-on and consulting services in business advisory, global privacy frameworks, commercial Law, international trade & FDIs, IP, IT & TMT and European law. He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E), Certified Governance Risk Management & Compliance Professional (GRCP) and a Research Fellow at the African Academic Network on Internet Policy (AANOIP).
Legal Counsel Temitayo Ogunmokun studied for his Bachelor of Laws LL. B (Hons.) at the Law Faculty of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun State, Nigeria. He obtained his Barrister at Law (BL) / Bar certificate at the Nigerian Law School and was enrolled as a Barrister & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, with conditional leave to practice law in most parts of the English commonwealth by fiat. He subsequently obtained an Advanced LL.M (Distinction) on International, European & Data law at the Institute for European Studies, VUB, Brussels, Belgium where he served as the LLM class representative. The programme covered EU economic law, EU competition law, EU external relations, international Law, comparative Law, international economic law, business law, EU institutional & judicial framework and data protection law.
Temitayo previously worked as an Associate/Team Lead at a highly rated commercial law firm in Lagos, Nigeria where he led teams providing European and domestic clients with services projects concerning business startup and incubation, expatriates’ entry and onboarding, regulatory compliance, local content advisory, trade & investments, logistics & supply chain, post operational imperatives and liaison with regulatory authorities. He also possesses extensive hands-on, advisory and training experience working as a privacy consultant for a licensed Data Protection Compliance Organisation (DPCO).
He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA Section on Business Law, International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), and Internet Society (Belgium & Nigeria). He has authored articles, working papers, journals and reports, and has been published on different domestic and international platforms on a broad range of legal issues.
Temitayo heads A-Law's Nigeria desk, whereby he focuses on counseling and establishing companies, non-profit organizations, investments, trade, contract drafting, privacy frameworks, alternative dispute settlements, regulatory compliance, public procurement and competition compliance for emerging companies and SMEs.
