Attorney-at-law Managing Partner Patricia Leers has gained extensive professional expertise in the insurance sector where she worked on claims and risk management for a period of ten years.

She uses this valuable business expertise in an optimal way in her international law practice.

She obtained her law degree, a Master in Maritime and Fluvial Law, a Master Degree in Business Law and a Master in Mediation from the University of Antwerp. 

As a result of her in-depth knowledge and extensive expertise in international M&A inbound and outbound investment and cross border trade projects, Patricia Leers developed A-Law into the reputed Belgian, European and International law firm it is today.

Together with Dirk De Beule, she wrote a legal reference book on arrest of vessels, which was awarded with the Maritime Award of the Belgian Ship Owners Association. This book is unique as it contains a significant number of unreported case-law.

Attorney-at-law Patricia Leers heads the european and  international team at A-Law International law firm, whereby she focuses on investment, trade, contract and regulatory compliance, public procurement and competition compliance for emerging companies and SME’s as well as possible barriers to trade in the context of WTO, FTA and TPP Commitments.

She is a co-author of legal reviews touching upon the essence of the Free Trade Agreement Europe Vietnam.

Developing strategies in business as in law is key to her professional practice.

She is the driving force behind the European and international development of A-Law attorneys and A-Law offices in Central and East Europe, Asian and South East Asian markets as China and Vietnam, and Africa.

She is a regular speaker at business associations both national and international on topics related to the overall legal framework of trade and investment in Belgium, Europe, Asia, Amerika and Africa.

Coming from the logistics and transport insurance sector, she has been a key advisor on the contract management of the Flemish e-logistics platform, the AEO concept implementation and horizontal cooperation and service level agreements in compliance with the EU and Belgian competition laws.

She has a vast experience in public procurement and related competition issues.

Besides her professional career, Patricia is passionate about modern architecture and design and led the project for the renovation and decoration of the house "Artois", the previous administrative offices of the brewery Stella Artois (actually ABinbev), into the new offices of A-Law attorneys Antwerp in 2018.
