Legal counsel Singhateh obtained Bachelor of  law degree (LLB) at University of The Gambia. He further obtained his Barrister at Law (BL) at Gambia Law school in Banjul, The Gambia and is admitted to the Gambia Bar and enrolled as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of The Gambia. He obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Law and Economy on Policy Issues in Emerging  Economies and a Postgraduate Certificate on International Organized Crime at the Utrecht University in The Netherlands.

Mr Singhateh worked for FBN Bank Gambia Limited (subsidiary of FirstBank  Nigeria) as the first Country Head, Legal Affairs which came after he served the same institution as Country Head, Human Resources & Administration double hatting as Chief Anti-money laundering officer.  Prior to his stint with the bank, he worked in both Insurance and Education sectors within The Gambia.

He has experience in areas of legal advisory regarding establishment of NGO’s (associations without lucrative goal), business establishment or company formation, investment, due diligence, debt recovery, background check, contract compliance as well as litigation and enforcement issues.

The combination of his studies and work experience in The Gambia and Nigeria enables him to give comprehensive  guidance to clients exploring investment, commercial cooperation, sale and  trade opportunities between The Gambia/West-Africa and other parts of the world.

Legal counsel Famara Singhateh heads the West Africa Desk at A-Law International law firm, whereby he focuses on company formation, NGO, investment, trade, contract and regulatory compliance, public procurement and competition compliance for emerging companies and SME’s.

Mr. Singhateh annually contributes to the World Bank Doing Business report since 2019.
